About a year and a half ago I was on a staff retreat and someone said something that makes so much sense. “Your system is perfectly designed to give you the results you’re getting“. When you think about it it HAS to be true. Whatever you’re doing is giving you the exact results you are getting. So if you don’t like what you’re getting, you have to change your system.
I am reminded of this because of a recent event at our church. We had a pretty well known Christian artist come to our church for a fundraiser for a private school in town. I was in the booth while his production manager was getting what I thought were some starting levels on the wireless mic and track sends to the wedge monitor. Levels were good, but the artist NEVER SHOWED UP for sound check.
Sure enough, when the artist stepped out and started singing he had all kinds of problems with feedback, and some glitch with his mic stand. His system was perfectly designed to give him the results he got. Don’t go to sound check, be ready for problems. Sounds pretty basic, huh? So I am left with the question . . . What was he thinking?
